For millennia, the Atlantic was a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. But crossing it changed the world forever, sprouting an entirely new way of life. Brazilian designer Brunno Jahara celebrates the old and the new in the Transatlantica collection, with stunning deep blue swirling and striped patterns reminiscent of the waves battled by mariners on their crossings.
Each piece within the collection is slightly different,
though nearly all of them carry over the same motifs, like a compass or a ship stamp (regularly off-center), showing their journey to North America from their origins in Portugal. The serving items also have hidden pictures within their swirling patterns to represent the connection between the new world and the old. Finally, the nautical style is polished off with hand-done gold elements that lend the collection serious sophistication.
