Dibbern

Known for combining traditional craftsmanship with an aesthetically appealing simplicity, Dibbern has been creating high-quality tableware for almost 50 years. In their factory in Hohenberg, Bavaria, their porcelain plates and fine bone china are still traditionally turned by hand rather than statically pressed like most industrial mass products. Their high quality and timeless design set them apart from the others. Browse our selection of german bone china, dinnerware, porcelain plates, and glasses.

Founded in 1972 by Bernd T. Dibbern, Dibbern remains a family-owned German business manufacturing porcelain, glass, and textile products. Before he started Dibbern, Bernd worked as an importer of Scandivination porcelain products. Back then, the first collection of china, glass, and cutlery products was manufactured exclusively in Europe.

Dibbern’s international breakthrough as a lifestyle brand came in 1982 with the release and the success of the Solid Color product line, a pure shape combined with a modern color palette. This china series of products was based on the Bauhaus form from the early 1930s and has won various design awards. No fewer than 50 contemporary colors provide a whole host of combinations to suit each and everyone’s taste. To this day, Dibbern is still known for its Solid Color collection.

But the most significant step for the company would come in 1997 when the company took over and re-opened Germany’s first private china factory. The factory was originally founded in Hohenberg in 1814 by C.M. Hustchenreuther. Dibbern’s fine bone china plates are still produced today and the glasses produced by the company are both mouth-blown and hand-cut and manufactured exclusively in Europe.

Today, its renowned customer list includes not only well-known addresses from the luxury hotel industry and starred restaurants, but also the Federal Chancellery and Lufthansa First Class. The family business continues to be one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of high-quality lifestyle products in the field of fine dining. The company employs 150 people at two different locations, the company’s headquarters located near Hamburg and the production site in Hohenberg. Their product lines have received multiple design awards and are available from upmarket retailers to premium department stores worldwide.
