Saint Louis
The Crystal Saint Louis is the oldest crystal glass manufacturer in France, with roots dating back to 1586. Today, its collections are still created in the old world traditions of crystal-work. Browse our selection of crystal glasses, barware, tumblers, flutes, stemware, and vases.
Founded in Munzthal, Lorraine in 1586, Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche is the oldest glass manufacturer in France and was the first crystal glass manufacturer in continental Europe (1781). In 1767, Louis XV allowed for the construction of a glassware manufacturer on the location of the previous Munzthal glassware of the 16th century. Then fifteen years later, with the development of the manufacturing formula of crystal, the manufacture became the Royal Cristallerie of Saint Louis.
Throughout the years, the company’s creations have included tableware, vases, chandeliers, and lighting items, each crafted by master glassblowers and cutters who are considered to be the best in France. It’s this blend of craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation that makes Saint Louis the master of colors, cuts, a variety of product styles, and exceptional creations. Drawing inspiration from contemporary trends, Saint Louis is continually renewing and reshaping its identity while holding to its traditional craftsmanship.
Today, Saint Louis continues to call on the skill, imagination, and creativity of designers who bring new ways to design and use crystals. Their list of designer collaborators has included Paul Nicolas, Jean Sala, Jean Luce, Michel Colle, and Maurice Dufrene.
